When the unwed mothers chose to place their baby for adoption, they are rewarded with financial support. The medical care that these orphans receive is very good. It is considered equivelent to medical care in the United States.

Boys and girls, ages 6 months and older, healthy and special needs, which reside in foster care and group homes, are available for adoption. The waiting time for girls is usually longer than it is for boys. A general description of the child is contained in their medical record file along with a description of the child’s parents, general birth information, and the birth mother’s family situation, if available.

Couples wishing to adopt a Korean child must complete a home study course. There are age restrictions which limit adopting couples between 25-43 years of age. The couple must provide proof of marriage for period no less than three years. Adopting couples with existing children may adopt as long as there are four or less at the time of application.
